Mina revels in big Colombia win

Yerry Mina made a big impact on his first World Cup appearance, scoring in Colombia’s 3-0 win against Poland and shutting out Robert Lewandowski.

Mina came into Colombia’s back line on Sunday and played a key role in restoring his country’s hopes of the knockout stages, not only breaking the deadlock but also stifling Lewandowski on several occasions and in turn helping eliminate Poland from the competition.

“I was waiting for my moment to come,” the Barcelona defender said after the game.

“We were focused for 90 minutes in a match that wasn’t easy. Senegal? Let’s go with everything we have!”

It also comes on the same day as a report in Mundo Deportivo, which claimed Barca were prepared to sell the 23-year-old.
