OFFICIAL: Villarreal sign Funes Mori

Villarreal have completed the signing of defender Ramiro Funes Mori from Everton for an undisclosed fee, it has been confirmed.

The Yellow Submarine finished fifth in La Liga last season and will compete in next season’s Europa League with the central defender penning a four-year contract.

The Argentine moved to Everton from River Plate in September 2015 for £11.6 million, making 67 appearances in all competitions for the Tofees.

However, the 27-year-old only played four times last term after suffering a knee injury in March 2017.

Funes Mori has not been included in Argentina’s 23-man World Cup squad despite winning 19 caps for his nation, scoring once.

He becomes the third signing of the summer for Villarreal, who have already signed striking duo Gerard Moreno and Karl Toko Ekambi.
