Real Zaragoza have appointed Imanol Idiakez having missed out on promotion to the top-flight last season, it has been confirmed.
A native of San Sebastian, Idiakez will replace Natxo Gonzalez – who has departed for Deportivo La Coruna – at the helm at La Romareda.
Idiakez was last season in charge of Cypriot side AEK Larnaca whom he guided to last season’s Cyprus Cup, only their second ever major trophy.
The 46-year-old has previously been in charge of a host of lower league Spanish clubs including Real Union, Toledo and Lleira.
Zaragoza, recognised as one of Spain’s biggest clubs, are now set for their sixth successive season without top flight football.
