Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal has started full training with the Spanish national squad ahead of the World Cup opening.
Carvajal’s place in the Spain squad was thrown into doubt after he limped off in tears during Madrid’s 3-1 win against Liverpool in the Champions League Final in late May.
The 26-year-old avoided a hamstring tear and has now returned to first-team training, although he is unlikely to participate in the opening match against Portugal on Friday.
Real Sociedad full-back Alvaro Odriozola is likely to step in for Carvajal, who also suffered an injury during the 2016 Champions League Final, which ultimately ruled him out of Euro 2016.
