Lopetegui undecided on strikers

Spain boss Julen Lopetegui admits he has yet to make a decision on his starting striker at the World Cup.

Spain kick off their preparations for Russia on Sunday as they host tournament rivals Switzerland in a friendly, with Iago Aspas, Diego Costa and Rodrigo Moreno all vying for their No 9 jersey.

“We’re very excited,” the Coach said at a Press conference.

“We’ve earned the right to participate in a great event such as a World Cup.  Euphoria? I don’t remember the Argentina match, nor what happened in March.

“Nothing from the past is going to help us. Now we’re playing against the team ranked sixth by FIFA, who are very complete.

“Striker? We’ll see, we’ve played with or without a reference up top, but there’s still time.

“Madrid’s champions? They’re like bulls, phenomenal even. We want our players to be happy and content. The work we do won’t be based on any previous data.

“The team that play on Sunday can play in any game at the World Cup, but we still have a few players missing.

“Barcelona won La Liga, Atletico won the Europa League and Madrid won the Champions League. That’s good for our players.”
