Jordi Cruyff ‘rules out’ Barca return

Jordi Cruyff, son of Barcelona legend Johan, has ‘ruled out’ the possibility of him re-joining the club in the role of sporting director.

The Dutchman – who briefly played with Barcelona and Manchester United – has left his role as Maccabi Tel Aviv manager, having previously been sporting director at the Israeli club and AEK Larnaca.

The 44-year-old has been linked with a return to the Camp Nou with current sporting director Robert Fernandez out-of-contract this summer.

“I have ruled out the possibility of moving to Barcelona,” Cruyff told an interview with Marca.

“It is not the right fit for me at the moment, but last year I turned down the opportunity to join to instead coach Maccabi.

“Of course this approach was greatly appreciated and there is the issue of my father’s legacy, but for personal and professional reasons I cannot commit.

“Now I am assessing my options, I have interest from a few leagues but I will not rush into a decision.”
