‘Betis need the right signings, not the best’

Real Betis assistant coach Eder Sarabia believes his club ‘do not need (to sign) the best players, but the most suitable’ this summer.

Quique Setien’s number two was speaking ahead of what promises to be a busy summer for the club, who will compete next season in the Europa League.

“We do not need the best players, but the most suitable,” Sarabia told ABC de Sevilla.

“The fans might worry who will arrive but this season has showed we need players who are of a certain level of confidence but also to find a blend where everyone feels important.

“We will need to have three or four plans, different templates of what works best for individual games and opponents.

“We ask the fans to take note of our progression this season, but right now we have a clear plan and so far it is progressing well, and the support has been fantastic.

“We also ask they are patient with players and what they are trying to do, we know how passionate they are but we do not have a magic wand and mistakes can happen.

“We know there we will need a squad next season, to have players who can play Thursday and others who can play Sunday, before we think about injuries and fatigue.”
