Valencia are set to go head-to-head with Southampton in a bid to sign Lyon defender Mouctar Diakhaby, according to reports.
The 21-year-old has already been linked with a move to Los Che by Le10Sport and now the well-renowned French sports daily L’Equipe has confirmed the Spanish club’s interest.
The defender, who is of Guinean descent, has represented France eight times at Under-21 level and has been a part of Lyon’s first-team squad since September 2016.
However, despite making 22 Ligue 1 appearances in his debut season, Diakhaby has started just eight league games this term due to a loss of form and injury problems.
English club Southampton, who maintained their place in the top flight, are also reportedly monitoring the central defender.
