Zidane: Bale’s impressed me, but…

Zinedine Zidane acknowledged Gareth Bale ‘is scoring a lot’ for Real Madrid but refused to confirm whether the winger would start the Champions League Final.

“We’re ready and we have no injuries, that was important,” said the Coach after Los Blancos’ 2-2 draw with Villarreal, during which the No 11 scored his 16th Liga goal of the season.

“We’re ready to play our Final and that’s it. I won’t talk about formations or the team. Bale? He never dropped his shoulders and now he’s scoring a lot. I’m happy for him and what he’s doing.

“Nothing’s changed from him. If there’s a difference, it’s the goals that he’s been scoring lately.

“Luca’s debut? He was lacking game time and he’s another player in the squad. He did well and I’m happy for his debut.

“Father and Coach? It’s not difficult for me to separate them. He’s another player and I treat him as just that.

“I’m happy he made his debut, nothing more than that. I’m happy as a Coach and as a father. We’ll see later at home…

“We had a very good first half and in the second half, we had to manage thoughts about the Final.

“When you do that, you can get yourself in trouble. We started the League badly but finished it very well.

“Now we have our most beautiful game of the season and we’ll try to win the trophy. I can assure you that we’re very happy to play in the Final, but we always win to win everything always.

“Therefore, we can’t be happy with how we did in the League, especially at the start. We always want to do things right and it wasn’t possible, but that’s it, it’s over.”
