Torres: Europa League special

Fernando Torres has admitted that lifting the Europa League trophy against Marseille this week would be the perfect send off.

The striker will be leaving Atletico Madrid at the end of the season, but before that he is hoping to end his time with Los Colchoneros on a high note in Lyon.

“We have a very important game ahead and I don’t have much time to think of anything else,” said Torres in a question and answer session with Euromision.

“The fact we have reached the final minimises the feeling of knowing my career at the club is over.

“Football gave me the chance of returning to Atletico and fight for titles as a player, and winning the Europa League trophy would without doubt be something special.”

The former Liverpool, Chelsea and Milan frontman also admitted it had been his dream to make his debut in the red and white shirt of Atleti.

“Most of the things I’ve experienced here have been a gift. I dreamt as a child of making my professional debut with Atletico,”. he confessed.
