Barcelona forward Luis Suarez has appeared to admit Antoine Griezmann is joining the club: “Antoine will join to win important trophies’.
The former Liverpool striker was asked about the French forward, who has strongly been linked with a €100m summer move to the Camp Nou from Atleti.
“Just like when Coutinho and Dembele arrived, it is exciting that we are bringing in players with Antoine’s quality,” Suarez told Radio Rincon in his native Uruguay, as cited by El Mundo Deportivo.
“They are all great players with high quality and Griezmann has played at the highest level with Atletico for many years and has been a key part of their attack.
“He is welcome at this club, he will not be taking anyone’s place but he will join to win important trophies with the world’s best team.”
However, after the interview, Cadena Cope reported the journalist who conducted the interview – Javier de León – as stating the player ‘being misinterpreted’ and ‘missing his tenses’.
