Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann insists ‘it is time to win a trophy’ after qualifying for the Europa League final.
The French forward has not won a major trophy either at club or international level in his career but will represent Los Rojiblancos in the showpiece against Marseille later this month.
“It’s time for me to win a trophy,” Griezmann told reporters after the match, as cited by Marca.
“We have had our minds set on this competition since we entered it and we know how tough it is to triumph in, we have needed to fight in every match and every round.
“We knew for the semi-final we would need to play longer balls and attempt to win knockdowns and second balls, and you can see the impact of Diego (Costa).
“The atmosphere? We wanted to have that of the Vicente Calderon replicated here and tonight it happened, we have asked the fans to support us and they have been fantastic.”
