Jordi Cruyff, son of Barcelona legend Johan, has played down reports linking him with the sporting director role at the Catalan giants.
The Dutchman – who briefly played with Barcelona and Manchester United – is currently Maccabi Tel Aviv's manager, having previously been sporting director at the Israeli club and AEK Larnaca.
The 44-year-old has been linked with a return to the Camp Nou with current sporting director Robert Fernandez out-of-contract this summer.
“I think in the last 12 to 18 months there has always been that rumour coming up,” Cruyff is quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
“Previously, in other years, there have been talks with the club but maybe not about that role specifically.
“We'll see what's going to happen because it's a club near my heart, but sometimes that's not enough reason to make a decision like this.
“The timing has to be right, and we're not really in a situation to give a clear answer on that. We'll see, so far it's only rumours.”
