Madrid make Keylor admission

Real Madrid have suggested that Keylor Navas will remain their No 1 for ‘many more years’ after the goalkeeper was made an honorary club member.

Madrid have been heavily linked with the likes of David de Gea and Thibaut Courtois in recent months, but Florentino Perez made it clear he was not ready to give up on Navas, despite the Costa Rica coming in for criticism this season.

“This club have made a very important gesture in naming Keylor Navas as an honorary club member,” said the President during celebrations for the 30th anniversary of the Ramon Mendoza supporters club.

“Keylor, you have earned the affection of all Madrid. You’ve earned it with your talent, professionalism and conduct because you’ve identified lot with the club’s values.

“It’s a source of pride to have a goalkeeper like him, regardless of what people say. Work hard and you’ll be with us for many more years.

“We’ve won two Champions Leagues in two years, but we have the dream of making more history and we want to win our third.

“We have a very tough match against Bayern, who are one of Europe’s great sides, but our players are going to leave their souls behind in order to bring us that European Cup.

“Every year that I’ve come here, we end up bringing home a European Cup and hopefully we’ll keep that run going.

“We’ll see if we can also bring home another Club World Cup. The unity of Real Madrid doesn’t break, although there are many people who want to break us up.”
