Las Palmas Coach Paco Jemez regrets his decision not to leave the club when star forward Jonathan Viera was sold in January.
Jemez was appointed to Los Amarillos in December but has failed to reverse their fortunes, as they lie second-from-bottom in La Liga, with Viera sold to Beijing Sinobo Guoan in January.
“That was the moment (when Jonathan Viera was sold) that I should also have left,” Jemez is cited as saying by Marca.
“However I decided to stay because of my players, I could not have left them in that situation but it is something that I have spoken about.
“Now we are in a situation whereby we cannot expect to maintain our status in the top flight, we have gone weeks without winning and it is not good.”
