Malaga Coach Jose Gonzalez insists his side ‘do not deserve’ to suffer relegation this season and reiterated they are ‘a fantastic group of players’.
The 51-year-old replaced Michel in the Andalusian club’s hotseat in January but has guided the side to just one win and six points in 13 league games.
“We do not deserve this experience we are now living through,” Gonzalez told Cadena Cope.
“A lot of bad things have been done throughout this season, a lot of mistakes have been made and unfortunately we were not able to reverse the situation.
“We have known our fate has been very likely for quite some time now but I never doubted the effort or belief within this squad.
“I have strong feelings that I have led a fantastic group of players, and I feel very sorry for them all.”
Thursday’s defeat at Levante condemned the Costa Del Sol side to their fate.
