Malaga Coach Jose Gonzalez believes his side have ‘earned the right to dream’ of survival after their defeat of Villarreal on Sunday.
Chory Castro’s first half penalty was enough to end the Costa del Sol side’s 18-match winless run and move them to within 11 points of safety with eight matches remaining.
“We have earned the right to dream with this result,” Gonzalez told Cadena Cope after the match.
“We believe we have improved the squad we inherited and any Coach would be able to do well with this group, so we are optimistic.
“The player who has offered leadership is (Manuel) Iturra – he speaks a lot and is one of our most experienced players, but we trust this helps.”
