Vincenzo Montella has admitted Sevilla defender Clement Lenglet may join Barcelona this summer: “he has a strong mentality”.
The 22-year-old has recently been linked with a move to the Spanish league leaders, with a reported €45m release clause at the Andalusian club.
“He is a champion with a strong mentality and in the future he can definitely play for Barcelona,” Montella told reporters on Monday, as cited by El Desmarque, when quizzed over the defender’s future.
“Rotations against Deportivo? Yes there will be changes because the team needs to rest a little bit, these are key moments in our season but it is also a tiring one.
“It is very difficult to compete in three competitions and it means you must play three matches a week over long periods so some players must rest.
“We need to balance our situation – we are in a cup final, fighting for important league positions and we were fantastic in the Champions League.
“My own future? I don’t want to talk about myself, I analyse my work constantly and keep trying to improve.”
