OFFICIAL: Fernando Torres leaving Atleti

Fernando Torres will leave Atletico Madrid at the end of the season when his contract expires, it has been confirmed.

The 34-year-old will end his second spell with Los Rojiblancos when his current deal at the club runs out at the end of June.

Torres has netted seven goals in 34 appearances for Los Rojiblancos this campaign and has scored a total of 33 goals for the club in his second stint, after re-joining from Chelsea – initially on a loan deal – in the 2014-15 season.

He has fallen behind Antoine Griezmann, Kevin Gameiro and Diego Costa in the pecking order at the Wanda Metropolitano this season.

The experienced striker – who netted 81 times in 142 appearances for Liverpool between 2007 and 2011 – had been linked with a move to China earlier this year, but early reports suggest he will stay in Spain next season.
