Zidane rests five for Las Palmas

Zinedine Zidane has rested five first-team personnel for Las Palmas on Saturday as the Real Madrid boss confirms ‘I want to stay for as long as possible’.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Sergio Ramos, Marcelo, Toni Kroos and Isco have all been rested for Madrid’s Champions League quarter-final first leg against Juventus on Tuesday, while Dani Carvajal is suspended.

“I’m not being unfair to Isco. He’s said clearly that he’s happy,” the Coach said at a Press conference.

“Maybe he’s not as prominent with us as he is for the Spanish national team, but I’ve always shown to him that he’s very important to us.

“He wants to play more, like everyone else, but I can only pick 11 of them and count on 25. He’ll stay here.

“I’d rather my players didn’t play so much during the international break, but Bale looks prepared.

“My future? If it’s up to me, I’ll stay. My idea is to stay here for as long as possible, but you know what football’s like.

“I know where I am. This is a very demanding club, but I like what I’m doing and I want to keep going.

“Juventus? That game is in our heads, but we need to do things right against Las Palmas first. They’re having a difficult season, but they’re also capable of playing well.

“We have to be prepared, go into the match strongly and play with intensity, while not looking at the table, given there are no small teams in Spain.”

Madrid squad for Las Palmas: Keylor, Casilla, Luca; Vallejo, Varane, Nacho, Theo, Achraf, Tejero; Modric, Casemiro, Marcos Llorente, Asensio, Kovacic, Oscar; Benzema, Bale, Vazquez, Mayoral
