Huesca moved back on top of Spain’s second tier but extended their winless run to six matches with a 1-1 draw at title-chasing Cadiz.
The Andalusian side had an opportunity to go top them themselves with a victory but it was the visitors who opened the scoring – Ezequiel Avila netting nine minutes before the break.
However, Salva Sanchez levelled for the hosts after the break and whilst both sides pushed hard for a winner, none was forthcoming.
Rayo Vallecano have dropped back down to second following their weekend defeat at Sporting Gijon, who are now third.
Only three points separate league leaders Huesca from fourth-placed Cadiz while 11th-placed Lugo are within two points of a top six playoff finish.
