Munir’s Morocco hopes dashed – report

Alaves striker Munir El Haddadi will not be allowed to switch allegiances from Spain to Morocco by FIFA, according to reports.

Munir has Moroccan heritage on his father’s side but has already represented Spain in a Euro 2016 qualifier – playing 13 minutes in a win in Macedonia in September 2014.

“The request made by the Football Federation of Morocco and the player Munir El Haddadi for change of Association was rejected by the Bureau of the Players' Status Committee,” ESPN FC cite a FIFA spokesperson as saying.

The 22-year-old left Barcelona for Alaves in a second loan spell over the summer and has scored six goals in 29 appearances this season for El Glorioso.
