Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann says he will make a decision on his future ‘before the World Cup’ and thanks Diego Costa for giving him ‘more freedom’.
Speculation regarding where Griezmann will play next season has reignited, with the end of the season fast approaching, but the attacker’s form has shown a marked improvement since Costa’s integration into the Atleti XI.
“My future will be decided before the World Cup,” he told L’Equipe.
“I want to go to Russia with a clear head. I think that’s what everyone wants.
“It’s not a question of knowing where I’ll play, which can also be boring, but rather the fact of receiving calls at a delicate time.
“I told my sister that I’d make my decision about staying in Madrid before leaving for Russia.
“After my statements last summer, it was hard to only think about football. My red card against Girona then made things worse.
“Only in the national team did I feel comfortable, but Diego Costa gave me a helping hand.
“The Coach gave me more freedom after he came in, taking away many of my responsibilities.”
