Atletico Madrid defender Lucas Hernandez confesses it is a ‘dream’ to be called up by France, despite being heavily linked with a switch to Spain.
Lucas was reportedly in the process of obtaining a Spanish passport to play for La Roja, but his future now appears to lie with France after he was summoned for their friendlies against Colombia and Russia.
“When you’re a kid, you dream of representing this shirt,” he was quoted as saying by the French Football Federation (FFF).
“The France team means everything to me. Today I have the chance of joining up with the national team, and it’s something that I’ve dreamt of since I was little.”
However, the 22-year-old can still become a Spain international for as long as he does not represent Les Bleus in a competitive match.
