Zidane: Madrid targeting second

Zinedine Zidane has finally conceded defeat in the title race by admitting that second place is now Real Madrid’s ‘objective’.

“Ronaldo? He has tremendous ambition,” the Coach said his side’s 6-3 win against Girona on Sunday.

“There’s nothing else you can say about him. When Cristiano’s feeling good, the team are very good.

“He transmits good energy to the team. If he has to take a penalty in training, he will with maximum concentration. That’s what makes him different to the others.

“On balance, the match was very positive. We’ve arrived at a good time in the season, but we have to work on details and think about them.

“We played with intensity at the start of each half, and that’s how we want to play. If we’re focused, we do a lot of damage to our opponents.

“At 1-1 we kept playing with two touches and eventually scored some spectacular goals.

“Atletico losing to Villarreal? Second place is the squad’s objective for the last nine games.”
