Training for Spanish officials in relation to using Video Assistant Refereeing (VAR) has begun, La Liga have confirmed in a statement.
The league have confirmed that the system will be placed into Spanish top flight football from the beginning of the 2018/19 campaign.
It has also confirmed that VOR (the Video Operations Centre) will be held in Las Rozas – a municipality of Madrid, where the technology and confirmation will be made.
Mediapro will provide the images of which the decisions will be taken, while La Liga will cover the costs of the development.
VAR will look to clarify ‘clear and obvious errors’ in relation to goal situations, penalty decisions, direct red cards and identity confusion of a player.
