Ziganda ‘will face’ Athletic challenge

Athletic Bilbao Coach Jose Angel Ziganda has reaffirmed his commitment to the club and confirmed he will not walk away.

The Basque club have suffered a tough season following Ernesto Valverde’s departure to Barcelona and lie in 12th place ahead of Wednesday’s clash with Valencia.

“I know the importance of my position and the responsibility I hold,” Ziganda told his pre-match press conference.

“You cannot give up on this in the face of adversity, you must be strong and consistent and face up to whatever the job throws at you.

“We must look at the Valencia game and start winning, we must get a positive result and use that to push on for the remainder of the season.

“We know we can turn things around, it’s never nice to be whistled but we must be brave and answer the critics, who are not without validity.

“Valencia have enjoyed a fantastic season with great results and despite a small downturn due to their cup performances, they deserve to be fighting for the best positions.”
