Llorente plays down Madrid loss

Marcos Llorente has downplayed concerns Real Madrid’s loss at Espanyol will damage them ahead of their return match at Paris Saint-Germain.

Madrid had won six of their seven previous league outings before Tuesday night’s 1-0 defeat at the RCDE Stadium, where Gerard Moreno netted a stoppage time winner.

“We will not be disrupted by this result, our mood is still good,” Llorente told reporters, as cited by Marca.

“We are in good form, the team is calm and we still have the belief and confidence from the first leg against PSG, the second leg has kept us highly motivated.

“In the league we are going one match at a time but against Espanyol we lacked a goal threat and were not efficient, it was not a problem with motivation.

“In the second half they tightened up defensively and whilst we went for the victory, a defensive mess allowed them to score.”
