Godin: Torres/Cholo fallout ‘resolved’

Diego Godin has insisted any fallout between Atletico Madrid Coach Diego Simeone and out-of-favour striker Fernando Torres is over.

The legendary club striker’s relationship with the manager has reportedly become increasingly frosty with Torres set to leave Los Rojiblancos at the end of the campaign.

“Plenty was made of the issue, but it is already resolved and their relationship is now normal and respectful,” Godin told El Larguero.

“What Simeone told reporters was taken out of context and plenty was made of it, although I knew exactly what he meant.

“Fernando is a fantastic professional and is hugely respectful, and Diego tells players how it is and prioritises the club above everything – both of them want the best for the club.

“Neither of them are bigger than Atleti, and no fan would want to choose between two sides who are both idols of the club and our fans.

“There is nothing to talk about it, but that does not make headlines.”
