Report: Torres set for China move

Fernando Torres looks set for a move to Chinese Super League club Dalian Yifang this week, according to reports in the Spanish press.

The Chinese team are also said to have lodged a €70m offer for Atleti winger Yannick Carrasco and hold an interest in Nicolas Gaitan, but Marca now state they are closest to Torres.

The veteran striker – who celebrates his 34th birthday next month – will become a free agent in June and the report states the Chinese club made a firm offer on Thursday, which the player is ‘seriously considering’.

Torres has netted five goals in 27 appearances for Los Rojiblancos this campaign and has netted a total of 33 goals for the club in his second stint, after re-joining from Chelsea, initially on a loan deal, in the 2014-15 season.

He has fallen behind Antoine Griezmann, Kevin Gameiro and Diego Costa in the pecking order at the Wanda Metropolitano this season.

Earlier this week, Diego Simeone hinted Torres would exit the club by responding ‘no’ when asked if he had a future at the club.
