Atletico Madrid Coach Diego Simeone has indicated striker Fernando Torres will not have his contract renewed for next season.
The Argentine responded ‘no’ when asked if he “would be willing to have Fernando Torres stay on for another year?”, at a press conference.
The veteran striker – who celebrates his 34th birthday next month – will become a free agent in June and reports in both Marca and Diario AS have suggested his current deal will not be renewed.
Torres has netted five goals in 27 appearances for Los Rojiblancos this campaign and has netted a total of 33 goals for the club in his second stint, after re-joining from Chelsea, initially on a loan deal, in the 2014-15 season.
He has fallen behind Antoine Griezmann, Kevin Gameiro and Diego Costa in the pecking order at the Wanda Metropolitano this season.
