Valencia late show beats Malaga

Two goals in the final ten minutes secured a dramatic victory for Valencia and leave Malaga rooted to the foot of La Liga.

Brown Ideye had given the Andalucian strugglers a first-half lead before Francis Coquelin and Dani Parejo won the game late on for Los Che, with Ignasi Miquel dismissed for the hosts.

Former West Brom and Olympiakos striker Ideye – a January signing – slotted in for the hosts before Coquelin, who didn’t score in 160 appearances for Arsenal, opened his account with an equaliser.

Miquel was then dismissed for bringing down Rodrigo Moreno in the penalty area with Parejo netting the resultant spot kick.

Malaga goalkeeper Roberto came forward for a corner in the last minute but his header went wide of the post.

Valencia remain third and moved within six points of Atletico Madrid, who play on Sunday, while Malaga stay seven points from safety.
