Djene ‘working’ on joining ‘bigger club’

Getafe defender Djene Dakonam is ‘working on a move to a bigger club’ but insists he has enjoyed his spell at the Madrid-based club.

The Togolese international has excelled for Los Azulones this campaign, starting 22 La Liga games since his move from Belgian club Sint-Truden this summer.

“I’m hopeful my work can take me to a bigger club,” Djene told an interview with Diario AS.

“I’m happy to be here during my first season in La Liga, there is not so much pressure when you lose a game because of the club.

“The new contract has given me security over my future and right now I’m happy at the club, but who knows what will happen in the future.

“At the moment I am focused on helping Getafe obtaining our objectives this season.”

Djene previously spent two seasons in the Segunda with Alcorcon between 2014 and 2016 and has a €30m release clause.
