Chilean midfielder Felipe Gutierrez has signed for MLS club Kansas City after he was released by Real Betis, it has been confirmed
The 27-year-old joined Los Verdiblancos for a reported €1.5m from Dutch side FC Twente in 2016 but started only nine La Liga matches for the club.
The central midfielder spent a year on loan at Brazilian club Internacional, who covered the Chile international’s wages over that period.
“Felipe has a tremendous amount of experience playing in very difficult environments in top-level competitions,” Sporting KC Manager Peter Vermes said.
“He also possesses the DNA that we look for in players that fit our style. He is excited about joining the club and we are ecstatic for him to be a part of our team.”
Gutierrez has now been confirmed as a designated foreign player with the American club after his contract in Seville was mutually terminated.
