Crystal Palace still retain hope of signing Getafe goalkeeper Vicente Guaita despite the Spanish club being reportedly unwilling to sell.
The 30-year-old has an €8m release clause at the Madrid-based club and was dropped for last week’s defeat at Atletico Madrid before being left out of the squad altogether against Malaga.
Reports across the Spanish press had suggested Getafe rejected a €4m offer from Roy Hodgson’s side, who are keen on an upgrade to current goalkeeper Wayne Hennessy and Julian Speroni.
Guaita – who is out of contract at the end of the season – has started 17 La Liga matches this season for Getafe and has kept six clean sheets, including in all four of his most recent games.
The goalkeeper reportedly missed training on Sunday last week as he attempts to push through a move to Selhurst Park, although Watford and Besiktas were also said to be linked.
According to The Guardian, Palace were informed by the player he had an agreement with Getafe’s president to allow him to leave this month but this has been denied by Los Azulones.
