QSF confirms Espanyol stay

Stoke City target Quique Sanchez Flores has confirmed that he will stay on as Espanyol Coach.

Stoke had reportedly identified Sanchez Flores as their first choice to replace Mark Hughes, but the former Watford boss made it clear before Espanyol’s game against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday that he would stick with the Catalans.

“I’m the Coach of Espanyol and I’ll remain so,” he said at a Press conference.

“I belong to Espanyol, I have a contract here and I’ve been honest with the club. I feel good and I’m absolutely happy with my situation.

“I don’t have to explain anything and I don’t have to say anything else. Football has these kinds of situations, when clubs make approaches.

“It’s fantastic that the Espanyol Coach is liked by others. I was at the cinema on Friday and wasn’t worried.

“I have everything I need here, and I’m happy. The reality is that I’m here and I’ll stay at Espanyol.

“My commitment here is total. The situation has been managed as normally as possible.”
