Stoke want Espanyol’s Sanchez Flores

Espanyol Coach Quique Sanchez Flores is on the shortlist for the vacant managerial position at Stoke City, according to reports.

The 52-year-old has previously managed in England, having spent the 2015-16 campaign at the helm of Watford whom he led to the FA Cup semi-finals and a comfortable mid-table position.

The former Spain international then signed a three-year contract at the Catalan club in the summer of 2016, but has come under pressure this season.

A report in the BBC now states Sanchez Flores is a prime candidate for The Potteries club to replace Mark Hughes, who was dismissed earlier this week.

Espanyol currently sit 14th in La Liga after finishing 8th last season, while Stoke currently lie in the Premier League relegation zone.
