Luciano Vietto admits he u-turned on an agreed move to Sporting CP when he became aware of Valencia’s interest in a deal.
The Argentine forward moved to the Mestalla from Atletico Madrid for the remainder of the campaign on a loan deal after reports his move to Sporting had been confirmed.
“There was an agreement between Atlético and Sporting but Valencia appeared and it excited me,” Vietto told reporters, according to Plaza Deportiva.
“I received the call from Marcelino and it was important because we both know each other and when we were together it was comfortable for both of us, so his presence is significant.
“I cannot play against Atletico in the league because of the clubs agreeing a clause and I do not know if in the Copa del Rey it will be the same.
“The first year that I arrived inSpain it was difficult to think that I would end up at Valencia. I played with Atletico and Sevilla and when Marcelino arrived I was excited about the possibility of coming here someday.
“In summer there was interest but it did not materialize and now I am very happy.”
