Jemez: Las Palmas need signings

New Las Palmas Coach Paco Jemez has emphasised the need for new signings after speaking publicly for the first time since rejoining Los Amarillos.

La Liga’s basement club have agreed a deal to sign Argentine midfielder Gaby Penalda from Cruz Azul but Jemez – who is embarking on his second stint in charge of his hometown clubs – wants more incomings.

“There are very good players in this team but we will need new faces to reverse this situation,” Jemez told a press conference.

“I will not talk about specific signings or positions but yes Gaby Penalda is coming, he is a player I can trust a lot.

“There are many things that we must work to change and to improve as this team is not here (bottom of La Liga) by chance.

“The important thing here is not only winning but to play good football too but as a Coach I send my teams out to win and nothing else and we will take that approach for sure.

“It is an honour for me to be at this club, it is something I have always said I wanted to return to and now I have the opportunity I am very grateful.”
