Arbeloa confirms Madrid return

Former Real Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa has confirmed he has returned to the club in an ambassadorial role.

The 34-year-old retired from football in the summer after making only four appearances in a season-long stint at West Ham United in England.

Arbeloa made a total of 246 appearances for Los Blancos across two stints, having began his career at the club and returning in 2009, where he became a regular for seven campaigns.

“Is it possible to return to the place you never left?,” Arbeloa tweeted, confirming the news.

“I am proud and happy to be back at Real Madrid, my home. Hala Madrid!”

Arbeloa also had spells with Deportivo La Coruna and Liverpool, whilst winning 56 caps for Spain.
