Arbeloa confirms Madrid return

Former Real Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa has confirmed he has returned to the club in an ambassadorial role.

The 34-year-old retired from football in the summer after making only four appearances in a season-long stint at West Ham United in England.

Arbeloa made a total of 246 appearances for Los Blancos across two stints, having began his career at the club and returning in 2009, where he became a regular for seven campaigns.

β€œIs it possible to return to the place you never left?,” Arbeloa tweeted, confirming the news.

β€œI am proud and happy to be back at Real Madrid, my home. Hala Madrid!”

Arbeloa also had spells with Deportivo La Coruna and Liverpool, whilst winning 56 caps for Spain.
