Porto suggest Casillas stay

Porto Coach Sergio Conceicao has played down reports former Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas will leave the club in January.

The 36-year-old started in Thursday’s 3-0 triumph for Os Dragoes against Rio Ave in the Taca da Liga amid reports he could leave the club next month.

“Iker enjoyed a good game, just like the rest of the team,” Conceicao told reporters, as quoted by Diario AS.

“He showed calmness and composure and obviously he has a lot of experience at the highest level, and he is a fully trusted member of the squad.

“I am very happy with the squad we have and all the players, who are totally committed to this project and we are fighting in all competitions.

“Porto demands players who have quality and who are committed and to fight in every trophy and that is the situation at the moment.”

Casillas has been benched in recent months with Jose Sa selected as first choice goalkeeper.
