Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo is ‘defending the interests of the club’ by reporting Barcelona to FIFA over an alleged approach for Antoine Griezmann.
Reports over the weekend suggested the Catalan giants had held meetings with the French forward, which a director later did not deny with Atleti subsequently reporting the matter to FIFA.
“Our job is to defend the interest of the club and in this case we are doing that,” Cerezo told reporters, as quoted by Marca.
“It’s a matter of respect and it does not matter if this is from other clubs in Spain, Europe or further afield.”
26-year-old Griezmann has been widely linked with a move to the Blaugrana or Manchester United in recent months.
