Carlos Vela has thanked Real Sociedad and their fans for ‘the best years’ of his life ahead of his move to MLS football.
The Mexican forward will join Los Angeles FC in January and will play his final game for La Real against Sevilla at the weekend after more than five years at the club.
“I have enjoyed the best years of my life here,” Vela is cited as saying by ABC de Sevilla.
“I will take a thousand things from my time here, I have a Basque girlfriend, a Basque son and these are the aspects which shape my entire life.
“I have always felt comfortable here and have feelings I have not had anywhere else and my decision to stay here so long was my best ever decision.
“It has been a while since I have finally decided to change as I have given my all for the club and the time is right now.
“I want to thank the fans very much for everything they have given me through both the good times and the bad, they will carry a place in my heart forever.
“I hope they continue to support both the club and keep an eye on my career from a distance.
“Now I want to end on a high with a win against Sevilla at the Anoeta.”
