Lautaro Martinez has revealed he spoken at length with Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone about the club’s ‘football philosophy’.
The Argentine striker has reportedly agreed a €12m move to the Madrid-based club but the move will not go through until next summer as he remains with current side Racing Club.
“Simeone spoke to me at length about his football philosophy and how it will benefit me and what part I can play,” Martinez told Tyc Sports.
“Right now, I wish to stay at Racing Club and to play in the Copa Libertadores, which has been a dream for me ever since I was a little boy.
“I explained my position and desires from the start to both clubs and there is a full understanding on both sides.
“Now my ambition is to force my way into the Argentina squad for the World Cup, I have already discussed this with Coach Jorge Sampaoli and this would be another dream.”
