Alegria thanks Madrid for letter

Levante striker Alex Alegria has taken to social media to thank Real Madrid for their letter wishing him a successful return from injury.

The 25-year-old is on loan at the Valencia-based club from Real Betis but recently suffered a ligament injury that has ruled him out for the rest of the season.

Madrid have a tradition of sending such letters to players who have suffered serious injuries, whether they have previously played for the club or not.

“Dear Alex, On behalf of those that work at Real Madrid, especially our president, Florentino Perez, we want to send you our best wishes and [wish you a] speedy recovery from your injury,” read the letter, signed by  Emilio Butragueno.

Alegria ‘thanked’ the club via his Twitter account, while Madrid are also said to have sent a similar letter to Sunderland’s Duncan Watmore last month.
