Ever Banega insists Sevilla are with embattled boss Eduardo Berizzo “to death” after they pulled off another comeback on Sunday.
Banega’s late penalty completed a second turnaround in a week for Sevilla, who went from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at Villarreal, just three days after they made up a three-goal deficit against Liverpool.
Berizzo is set to begin his treatment for prostate cancer next week, which could see him take a break from football, but his fellow Argentine assured the team would stick by his side.
“It’s a delicate situation and we’re all here to help and for him to recover as soon as possible because we’re with him to death,” the midfielder said after the game.
Clement Lenglet, scorer of the goal that instigated Los Nervionenses’ comeback at La Ceramica, added: “The team are very united and now more than ever with the Coach.”
