Mesa rules out Las Palmas return

Swansea City midfielder Roque Mesa has ruled out a return to Las Palmas and insists he wants to fight for his place at the Liberty Stadium.

The 28-year-old midfielder joined the Swans in July but after 68 La Liga starts across the last two seasons, he has only started one Premier League match this season for the struggling side.

“I understand the fans would like to see me return but my spell with Las Palmas is over and now I am a fan of the club,” Mesa told Canarias Radio, as quoted by Diario AS.

“My sole focus is with Swansea, I have no intention of leaving on loan because my aim is to be a success with this club and keep working hard.

“Am I concerned by lack of playing time? It’s not the first time I have not been able to play consistently through my career but I know how this works and I must wait for my chance.

“I respect the Coach and my teammates who are being selected, you cannot act unprofessionally and you must continue trying to find positive solutions.

“At Las Palmas it is true I played all the time and became accustomed to that, but this is a new challenge.”
