Spain Coach Julen Lopetegui has blasted the debate over his side’s new kit by saying the country has ‘more important problems’.
La Roja’s new home strip was revealed earlier this week with controversy as it’s blue stripe has been criticised as appearing purple and appearing to replicate the colours of the flag of the old Spanish Republic.
“Spain has more important problems than interpreting a colour,” Lopetegui told El Larguero.
“I like all of Spain’s kits…this one reminds me of the 1994 one we used in the World Cup and it makes me feel younger, this talk does not reflect well on Spain.
“It is a blue stripe, there is no purple on the kit and there is no intention from any brand about how that might be interpreted by others.
“I have seen the kit personally and I know this, there is no purple there and it’s not a discussion.”
