France international Coach Didier Deschamps has backed under-fire forward Antoine Griezmann and blamed Atletico Madrid for his form.
The 26-year-old forward has been the subject of intense scrutiny this campaign with only two league goals in nine appearances with Atleti winning only six of 15 matches in all competitions.
“Antoine is still Antoine, he has the same quality as he always has,” Deschamps told a press conference.
“Maybe at the moment he is not performing to his usual high standards but I am not worried at all, and all form is relative.
“It has to be viewed alongside how the team is playing and Atletico Madrid have not been convincing in many matches this season.”
Griezmann has scored 18 goals in 47 appearances for France and is likely to feature in the forthcoming friendlies against Wales and Germany.
