Zinedine Zidane believes Cristiano Ronaldo ‘deserves’ to win FIFA’s The Best award on Monday night and hailed another incredible year for the player.
The Portuguese star helped his side to La Liga and Champions League glory alongside strong international form to help Portugual qualify for next year’s World Cup in Russia.
“Ronaldo is the best player of his generation, by a long way,” Zidane told reporters after Real Madrid’s 3-0 win over Eibar on Sunday.
“He always has shown this consistently throughout his career, the ability to make the difference in the really big games.
“All his prizes are deserved and tomorrow (Monday) will be no different – he always strives to show he is the best, and he is.
“Whenever he doesn’t score I am always asked the same question, but the most important thing is that he is receiving chances as nobody is worried he will find top form soon.
“He is the top goalscorer in the Champions League and next week in La Liga is another chance for him.”
